Thankful Thursday - To Those Who Remain Respectful Despite Our Differences
I just want to express my open thanks to the readers of my blog who remain respectful despite our differences. We may have different ways of doing businesss, hobbies, preferences (in food, the opposite sex, clothing, cars, etc.) and religious and political beliefs...but we should always respect everyone else's right to their own opinion and beliefs.
I love the United States of America, I believe in God and his prophets, I love big dogs, Persian cats and horses with feathers, I don't like birds (although I'm beginning to like owls), I eat meat (but not off the bone), I don't believe in global warming (it's a hoax!), I love motorcycles and convertibles, I don't believe in evolution, I love playing golf (even though I'm not that good at it), I think fishing is boring (but I love to eat sushi), I believe in the right to bear arms, I bought Sarah Palin's new book and I am not afraid to say, "Merry Christmas" to anyone. This is what makes me "me" and whatever your likes/dislikes and beliefs are, it's what makes you "you" and we should all just accept each other, regardless of our differences.
Sure, we can leave comments on blogs that we disagree with. It's healthy to debate the issue by offering your point of view and it's even better when you provide supporting facts. I welcome everyone's comments on my blog, including those that I simply "agree to disagree" with. I would never threaten anyone's right to freedom of speech or freedom of expression and I expect the same.
So a BIG thank you to everyone who has disagreed with me, who has either chosen to refrain from commenting or has posted their opposition respectfully on my blog...and an equal thank you to those who have agreed with me! :)

Well said, Leilani!
ps- Will we ever get to see a picture of Bob and you in your biker attire?
Leilani - It sounds like we agree on many, many topics. :)
Thanks, Bruce! :)
The only biker attire pic I have of us is one that was taken as a group photo at Donner Pass (near Lake Tahoe, CA) the summer of 2008, but we're only in "summer" gear...no chaps!
Jason, thanks for your comment...and even if there is something we don't agree on, you will always have my respect. :)
Leilani
Leilani,
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you!! :) Yes, we are blessed to live in a nation where people can hold to a view w/o being persecuted (most of the time).
Leilani, I appreciate your honesty and agree with being respectful even while disagreeing! The best to you!
You will notice I have not dropped by :)
Leilani, wonderful post, I agree, being respectful is so important, whether you agree or disagree. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Thanks for the picture, Leilani. Is that you in the very middle back, and is Bob taking the picture? The mountains are gorgeous. Is that the Donner Pass of the lost Donner party fame?
Sonja, you're right, we are...and a very Merry Christmas to you! :)
Thank you, Wanda...the best to you, too! :)
Jane, thank you for not dropping by...and for dropping by my posts that you have chosen to drop by! :)
Leilani
P.S. I also want everyone to know that I will not be offended if someone wishes me a Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, L'Aid or whatever holiday or celebration you partake in. :)
Merry Christmas, Marney...and thank you! :)
You're welcome, Bruce! I am third from the right (in quite an awkward position; I'm trying to look at something on my right, apparently) and Bob is second from the right. It is Donner Pass and I apologize for my lack of historical knowledge...I don't know who the lost Donner party is! :)
Leilani
Leilani, what have you been drinking? I want the recipe! remember, don't drink and blog... because if you do, you come up with good stuff... sometimes. Wholeheartedly, I agree with you, we must respect everybody's opinion if we want them to respect ours, very simple. Merry Christmas to the both of you and your family.
Antonio
Antonio, all I've had earlier was Rooibos Tea...but my drink of choice is usually a margarita or a glass of cab and chocolate! Merry Christmas to you and Alexia! :)

I agree. I disagree. I'll have to do a little more research. I think so. Maybe. Not at all! Absolutely!
But horses with feathers? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Russel, I absolutely love your response...it's strikes me as so innocently truthful and you're just so...likable! No matter what your views are! :)
I was waiting for someone to say something about my "horses with feathers" comment! "Feathers" in equine terminology refer to the long hair at the horse's feet (or "bell bottoms" as some kids like to call it). Horses like Clydesdales, Friesians and Irish/Gyspy Cobs all have the beautiful, flowing "feathers" on their feet...and those happen to be the breeds I love! :)
Leilani
Leilani & Bob, Thanks for your post and transparency. If the only voices we listen to are those we agree with, we'll never be challenged or grow. I really enjoy respectful conversations with those I might disagree with because I gain perspective. No matter which camp we are in on any of 1000 issues, those guys in the other camp aren't our enemies, Just our neighbors.
Very wise words, Dan...and I believe that gaining perspective from an opposing view demonstrates an open mind, which is an excellent trait to have. :)

Leilani ~ well written. I love when people agree and enjoy when people disagree politely :)
Me too, Haris...meow! :)
Leilani
Tough to argue on a post about being respectful :-) As usual, you've written an excellent post.
Merry Christmas to you.
Thank you, Irene...it came straight from the heart, so I appreciate your kind words. Merry Christmas to you, too! :)
