I Just Bought the Book "Going Rogue" by Sarah Palin

I Just Bought the Book "Going Rogue" by Sarah Palin

I've been hearing the buzz about Sarah Palin's book "Going Rogue" these past few weeks and how it made it to the #1 Best-Seller spot on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com just two days after the November 17th release date had been announced by HarperCollins (Source: SFGate.com). I like Sarah Palin, the All-American Woman (as well as the unfortunate target of so many haters) so when I walked into Costco this evening and saw her book "Going Rogue" I bought it.

Why am I writing this blog post when it may attract comments by those very haters I referred to? Well, to know me is to know that I am proud to state my opinion without fear of being different from others, yet I respect others' rights to have their own opinion even if it differs from mine. I can agree to disagree! :)

"Going Rogue" by Sarah Palin

I've only started becoming interested in politics earlier this year, so my political views are still in a state of formation and I realize there is so much to learn...but I call it as I see it and I don't form my opinions simply by "following" a political party. As a newbie, I started out from pretty much a neutral position, but I've learned enough about politics this year to determine that I lean towards the conservative side. :)

"Going Rogue" by Sarah Palin

Some random closing thoughts (not pertaining to the book):

  • Freedom, Liberty and Justice for All.
  • Bring the Pledge of Allegiance back in our schools.
  • Support our troops...don't ignore them.
  • Don't take away our right to bear arms.
  • We should be allowed to say, "Merry Christmas!"
  • God Bless America.

P.S. Sarah Palin should be added to this video!

I guess the haters must be getting their beauty rest tonight.

Pam, I didn't even get a chance to open the book tonight, as the purpose of my Costco trip was to buy a new monitor and I spent the rest of the evening getting my desktop computer set up and restored...I've been borrowing my husband's laptop for the past few weeks! I hope to start reading it tomorrow, though. Glad you like my Random Closing Thoughts! :)

Jim, you are very funny...thanks for making me laugh! :)

Leilani, thanks for sharing. I am a big fan of Sarah Palin. The left leaning democrats had to try to ruin her because she is so threatening to their ideals. Those ideals are runining our schools and are spending this country into welfare oblivion. I hope the Cap and Trade and Health Care issues crash and burn before they nail our coffin shut.

Dave, thanks for your insight and I can see how Palin being threatening to their ideals may be a "hidden" reason behind their hatred...and I say hatred because I have never witnessed such a level of animosity and public scorn towards a political figure who did absolutely nothing to deserve everything that has been thrown at her.

It angers me to see such unfair treatment towards anyone, so maybe that's one more reason why I like Sarah Palin. She sure has kept her dignity throughout all of this and the best revenge is success...so I'm happy to contribute to her success by purchasing a copy of her newly released bestseller! :)

You can buy it for $8.97 at Wal-Mart.  Unfortunately, I am one that thinks she is all pretty face and not enough upstairs to be President, Vice President, etc.  Let's face it.  When Couric interviewed her, she could not name a single newspaper she reads.  Before I retired, I had seven newspapaers delivered daily.  I read and scanned them for what was relevant to my companies.  You can't be an elected official of a state or country and not know what is going on.  A pretty face, a nice smile and a wink only get you so far.

Who reads newspapers? As far as that goes, I think the New York Times is all but through because of their refusal to print both sides of a story.

Sarah Palin taped 2 hours of interviewing with Katie Couric, and only nine minutes was pieced together.

They could make Thomas Jefferson look like a fool by piecing a 2 hr interview down to nine minutes, open your eyes to the truth.

Sarah Palin was a governor of Alaska, Obama was a community organizer, I tell you who did more for the people they served? Who had more executive experience?

The truth hurts doesn't it?

Thanks for your comment, Susan! I'm 38 years old and I remember newspapers were a big part of everyone's daily life when I was a kid, but today I can count on one hand the number of people I know who read the newspaper every day and this includes both my parents and my in-laws! In today's world, I don't think that someone who doesn't read a newspaper should be referred to as "not enough upstairs" but as I said, I can agree to disagree with you! :)

Nicholas, we were writing with the same "newspaper" thought at the same time! I haven't seen the Sarah Palin interview with Katie Couric, so I appreciate the information you provided. I have definitely learned more about politics this year than I have in my life! :)

Newspapers are good for starting fires in my fireplace. That's all I use them for. I ended my Chronicle subscription a few years ago when I read an editorial that went TOTALLY against what I believe in. I decided I no longer wanted to support that paper and it was the Houston Chronicle. I still get local papers in the mail and while that one hasn't been liberalized yet, I still don't read it. I get my news elsewhere. I'm going to buy the book on Friday. It amazes me how MEAN they are to Palin. They don't like her because she's real as opposed to their fake, she's honest as compared to their duplicity. They are intimidated by her. It has nothing to do with being attractive or not. They try to make her look stupid and it doesn't work. They just look like jerks.

Sarah Palin is a rock star for the Republicans.  Not sure how she would do as President though.  Keep building your political ideas.  Real estate and mortgages are great affected by laws, taxes, and regulation so it pays to keep up with them.  I'm not quite sure how anybody that is a self-employed business person could be anything but conservative.

I believe Sarah is hated and  feared by the liberals because they believe she could be elected. That is the only thing the liberals and I have in common(belief that Sarah could be elected).

I have featured this on silent majority!

Sarah is definately one of my top two choices for president in 2012. I am still a Huckabee supporter first.

Leilani - You have the right attitude about the formation of your political views.  It is important that you discover who you are by your own means and the area in the political spectrum you fit.  You will probably find out that you don't quite fit into just one category.  If you haven't already figured it out, one of the biggest problems isn't one's stance, rather the reluctance to listen or comprehend an opposing stance.  Hence the great division in our country right now.  Wherever you end up, please be sure to keep your eyes open and have vision - that will serve you well.  As one of my former teachers used to say: "Politics Is A Good Thing"

Mike - I believe a greater fear is that we have that many people interested in electing her while more worthwhile conservatives are bypassed.

Cheri', I think newspapers are similar to telephone booths...most people have no use for them! Oh, and mean people DO look like jerks! :)

Rob, thanks for your encouragement...I will definitely continue to learn and build my political ideas! Your last statement does make sense. The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of liberals are Starbucks employees because they are the majority of liberals I know. This is just my personal evaluation based on my own experience; most people I know (who happen to be self-employed) are conservative. :)

THANK YOU for the feature on Silent Majority, Mike! I feel out of my league in this group as a newbie to politics, but I respect your decision and I am flattered by the feature. :)

Hugh, I don't know much about Huckabee, but I plan to learn about him and his views...thanks for the mention! :)

Tchaka, thank you for your support about my political attitude. I've never had the sheep mentality and I doubt I ever will. You're right, I have found that my views on certain things are on the liberal side, which is why I think it's important for people to bypass the political "label" and concentrate on the issues. This would help prevent being fooled by people who claim they are with a certain political party, yet their actions/views show the exact opposite. In California, it is Meg Whitman that comes to mind in that scenario!

When did she learn how to write? I don't think anybody hates her, she's a cutey. Certainly there are no liberals who are afraid that she's electable, that's laughable.

Sarah Palin Tells Sean Hannity What Newspapers She Reads

An addition for your random closing thoughts. Civility should be practiced at all times. Trashing the other side should be shunned no matter what side of the issue you are on.

State your oppinion debate it fiercly but keep it civil. Sane people do not follow mad people.

Leilani,

Super post and I agree I love your random thoughts at the end.

Just an FYI Tchaka is one of the good guys on the left side of politics. Great Guy to debate and learn from.

Tchaka you can pay me later for showing the love once again. LOL

I think one reason Sarah Palin is attracting so much attention is that she is not a lock and step Republican. She has bucked her own party and cleaned house in Alaska. She is a threat because she is like everyday Americans who want what is right for our families and business. I am watching her on Hannity right now and I can assure you she has it all going on upstairs.

I am looking forward to reading her book as well and hearing what you think Leilani.

Just an FYI we use to live in Blackhawk and loved going to concerts at Wente. You live in one of my favorite places in California.

Keep blogging and I am going to keep reading.

Have a wonderful evening!!

Leilani,  I loved Sarah Palin from the moment she stepped onto the  political stage.  She got off to a rough start nationally but we will see.  She was a successful Governor.  She has her feet on the ground and has grass roots ideas.  I respect her and like her for a number two.  I'm not sure she could or should try to carry 2012.  It is too critical to make moves that will ensure we break the cycle we are in.

Leilani, thank you for a very mature post.  I like her and it was interesting as I caught her on Oprah, where she answered the newspaper question...which as it turns out, was a very condescending question by Katie.

Thanks for your suggestion, Herb! :)

Alice, thanks for the "tip" on Tchaka...I did not know if he was left or right and quite honestly, it doesn't matter to me! What matters is the ability to have intelligent debate and to have the ability to make your own judgment about issues rather than follow whatever side you think you belong to. Based on what I've read from Tchaka, it seems that he possesses both abilities, so I will definitely hope to learn from him in my quest for political knowledge. :) Palin does appeal to me as she does seem like a regular American who cares about things that other regular Americans care about. Wente concerts are great...we just saw Gretchen Wilson perform a couple of months ago there. Blackhawk is beautiful and I had the lucky opportunity to golf there a while back...it's the most beautiful golf course I've seen in Contra Costa county and the East Bay! THANK YOU for the feature in Tea Party...again, I am really quite flattered. :)

You're welcome, Rick! Perhaps one quality of a newbie is that I still have innocence when it comes to political attitudes...but that's just pure speculation on my part! :) I completely understand how the Katie intimidation attempt could make her pause...I'd probably do the same thing and think first of a retort, then realize I should take the mature road and let it go.

I loved Sarah Palin for what she did in Alaska: taking on her (my) own party, going after graft and corruption, not being bullied by the Alaska (GOP) (oil) establishment and for being a social and economic conservative as well as an "ordinary person".  Her approval rating in Alaska was very impressive.

But I was shocked when (my) candidate (and first choice for President) John McCain picked her.  She obviously had little experience with national issues.  I believed we had several much better qualified alternatives.

Then the McCain campaign dubbed her with (and she accepted) the "maverick" label.  That sounded exciting.  She knocked 'em dead at the GOP convention.  I was personally excited about her... and the chances of the ticket.

Then she completely dis-assembled to historic proportions.

She was opposed to the bridge-to-nowhere only when it was already dead and it was politically expedient (on the national stage) to do so.  She did in fact use the powers of her office to go after her (now ex-) brother-in-law.  That her husband (not an elected official of any kind) was doing the pressuring of the state police was beside the point. In fact, it was even worse than if she had did that herself.

Her interviews showed her to be less informed on national issues than an second-rate first-time candidate for congress - let alone a candidate for Vice-President.  Her comments about the proximity of Russia were simply ridiculous ...not to mention embarrassing.

Yes, the national press did a hatchet job on her.  But she made it easy.  And she continues to do so.

There is no way on earth she can appeal to the right-of-center marginal voters it takes to win the Presidency.

I wish her and her family well.  But I do not wish to see her on the debate stage in 2012.
