Google Sync For Mobile - Google Calendar and Gmail Contacts

Google Sync For Mobile - Google Calendar and Gmail Contacts

Now that I just learned how to set up my iPhone for "push" Gmail notification, I discovered this video about Google Sync's Google Calendar and Gmail Contacts real-time "push" synchronization. Now you no longer have to connect your mobile phone to your computer to sync your address book and calendar...what a convenient timesaver!

Another nice feature about Google Sync is that all of your contacts and events are stored safely online, so in the unfortunate event that you lose or damage your mobile phone, your data is easily restored to your replacement phone. This is a great (free!) alternative for iPhone users who subscribe to Apple's MobileMe service for $99 per year...check out my blog post:

iPhone - Are You Paying For Apple's MobileMe? Try Google Sync And Push For FREE!

The mobile devices supported by Google Sync are the iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Symbian S60 platforms. This video clearly demonstrates how Google Sync works:

Team Souza, your last few technology posts are great. I have to upgrade the phone and it looks like that iPhone may be the answer.

Bob and Leilani - I've been using Sync for a couple months and I love it!  I now have an alert set up for my Google Calendar that sends me an e-mail early every morning with reminders for appointments for that day.  Very cool!

Glad to hear that, Frank...I'm looking forward to using it! :)

Bill, that alert is a great idea to start off the day! :)

Bruce & Sandy, I think it's a wonderful (FREE) alternative to MobileMe! :)

I just got a Motorola Cliq (an Android phone based on Google) so the sync occurs automatically, but what I need is a sync directly to my CRM: Agent Office. Any ideas? Right now I have to sync from Gmail contacts to Outlook to Agent Office. There has to be an easier way.

Barbara, perhaps you could check with Agent Office to see if they offer a direct sync to your Android? I've stopped using Outlook altogether and I don't use Agent Office, so unfortunately I don't have the answer for you...
