Vineyards Are NOT Public Property!

Vineyards Are NOT Public Property!

Vineyard

Vineyards are private property and people should especially be respectful of vineyards that have homes in the middle of them. Vineyards are not owned by the government and they are not for recreational use by the public, including but not limited to:

1. 4-Wheeling and joyriding. Not only may you damage your vehicle by losing control and running into one of the end support poles for the vines and smash your headlight like one truck did, but your reckless driving also cost the vineyard owner the repairs needed and income loss from the damaged vines.

2. Parking lots for bicycle riders. Not that parking your vehicle between the vines does any harm, but it is an invasion of private property (trespassing) and you were not invited by the property owner. Would you like an uninvited driver to park their car on the side of your house (not on the street, but on your private property)?

3. A kiddie playground. Yesterday, this lady in a Lexus brought her two little girls to play in our vineyard (also next to a construction site) and she informed us matter-of-factly that "vineyards are public property." Where do people with so much entitlement and disrespect for property owners' rights come from??? If her daughters got hurt while playing in our vineyard...would she be suing the goverment, since she believed the vineyards to be public property? I think not.

I'd like to honor this Lexus-lady with the "Most Disrespectful And Stupid Person Of The Year" award.

Thanks, Betty! These are probably the same people who think nothing of picking fruit from orchards on the side of the road.

I'm envious! I wish I had a vineyard (without the Lexus lady, of course)!

Peggy, I'm so thankful that we were lucky to be able to realize one of our dreams of owning a vineyard. :)

Vineyards are absolutely a joy to visit.  But, I am sure a lot of work to maintain.  Do you have signs on your property?  The Lexus lady as you say is just stupid.

Rebecca, do you mean those signs that say "Trespassers Will Be Shot. Survivors Will Be Shot Again?" No, we don't...but this is a community of vineyard homes, not acres of vineyards without a home in sight. :)
