Remembering My White Persian Cat
Today marks the first anniversary of the day I lost my first pet, a precious white Persian cat who has been with me for 14 1/2 years. It's hard to believe it's already been a year since she's been gone...
When I saw that irresistibly cute and playful little white cottonball of a kitten for the first time, it was love at first sight! She took right to me when I came to see the litter of Persian kittens at a breeder's house that day and that was when I knew she was the one.
During the 14 1/2 years I've shared with her, she has truly been the sweetest and most patient cat I have ever known...even as we introduced puppies into her life...one after another after another. She tolerated their innocent curiosity in her and she always teased them nicely, like waiting until they were all asleep before running through the room at top speed! As the puppies matured into dogs, one of our females had become her greatest friend (BFF, actually) and sleeping buddy, who stayed with her until she drew her last breath.
Maybe I will get another cat in the future...but not yet...not yet.

I am sorry you lost your Persian but I know her memories enriched your life. My Persian was Charger now gone. He use to sit against a wall, paws crossed trying, I think, to look human. I remember a lifetime of pets, everyone different and precious and I cannot imagine life without one or two or three. Everything is better when you have a furry critter to love.
She was a beautiful girl -- looks much loved and cherished. We had a favorite guy who was with us for almost 18 years and its been almost 10 years and we still miss him ever so much. There is always the favorite pet that comes into one's life -- -- thanks for sharing the beautiful photos. All the best.
Thank you, Bill...and you are so right when you say "Everything is better when you have a furry critter to love" because we still have all the doggies! :)

Wow, 18 years, Bob & Carolin...I guess he (if he was a cat, that is) must have spent his nine lives wisely! She's my first and only cat, so I guess you could say she was my favorite cat. Dogs are in a completely different category, IMO. :)
Leilani
Leilani, thanks for sharing those photos and memories with us. Cats and dogs are part of the family, and it is tough to lose a loving pet. I wouldn't recommend getting the same breed- your Chanel was one of a kind; best to leave it that way.
Leilani - It is so difficult when we lose a beloved pet. A couple years ago, I lost 2 cats within a month of each other. One was Sabu, a 19 year old black cat that was extremely smart, and more human than cat. The other a tiny Persian by the name of Princess. Princess was 17. Both had very different personalities, both were very special. I can certainly sympathize with your loss. We give our hearts to these little beings, and they do likewise. Very neat pictures of her! I can see she was a beautiful animal.
I am sorry for your loss, but I am glad that you had a wonderful cat to share 14 1/2 years with you! That slideshow and the apparent thought/time that went into it was wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Leilani ~ She's the sweetest little puffball of a girl. You've got wonderful pictures of her. It must be so hard. I can't stand the thought that chances are my Champ will go before me. Your dogs are gorgeous too and the photo of them together is so dear.

That's very thoughtful advice, Sharon...perhaps you're right in keeping the Persian breed special. Chanel was definitely one of a kind. She truly had no faults or annoying habits or even bad teeth that Persians are prone to having. The "worst" thing she was guilty of doing was the typical feline habit of making you walk around her and not moving out of your way...but she taught us well and we were accustomed to it! :)
Myrl, I'm so sorry to hear of Sabu and Princess going within a month of each other...how heartbreaking it is when one goes, but two...I can only sympathize with your loss. I'm not sure how tiny Princess was, but I always thought Chanel was tiny...she was 8 lbs. sopping wet! Most people thought she was huge, but you and I know it's all fur! :)
You're welcome, Carissa! Sometimes putting together a sort of tribute is a way that helps deal with the loss...and it does make me feel better to look at the slideshow and remember. :)
Liz, thank you for your kind compliments! You know, even though I was terribly hurt and sad when she passed away, it absolutely broke my heart to watch my dog Cypress (her BFF) whine and cry at her side. I had my bond with Chanel, but the bond she shared with the dog was even more special than I suspected. BTW, Cypress still remembers her...I ask her, "Where's Chanel?" and she goes to the place where we kept Chanel's food. :)

"Parting is such sweet sorrow!" But the joys they bring while they are with us are wonderful. Wow, 14 1/2 years of sharing with her. That's great.
Hello Leilani,
I'm sorry for the loss of your beautiful girl.....your tribute to her was so heartfelt it brought tears to my eyes. Lovely tribute to your fur ball friend of 14 1/2 years. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Rita
You're so right, Erby...and that is all part of the bittersweet experiences of life. :)
Thank you, Rita...and I'm glad to have shared my tribute with you. :)
The vet offered me that namesake pawprint plaque in the last slide and as I did not want her ashes, that was the best token of remembrance they could have offered me. I treasure it dearly. :)
