His & Hers Netbooks
After reading Teresa Boardman's featured post Cloud computing and the netbook, I decided to finally make the move to cloud computing (my simple definition: using internet-based software and online document, photo and video storage in lieu of storing everything on your hard drive) by ordering his & hers netbooks as an early Christmas present! The Gateway LT204 series offers a combination of features that I found irrestible...most of all the "Cherry Red" color (it's absolutely GORGEOUS!) but also the Windows 7 Starter, 8+ hours of battery life, integrated webcam and Bluetooth.
My cloud computing progress so far:
- I dumped Microsoft Office for Google Docs (Open Office is not cloud computing, but I do use it)
- I said goodbye to Microsoft Outlook and switched over to Gmail and Google Calendar
- I'm storing my newly taken photos online at Picasa Web by Google
- All my videos are now stored online on YouTube and Facebook
I'll be sure to post my review of the Gateway netbooks and another cloud computing progress update soon...hopefully with some helpful tips to share!
