AJ's Casual Eatery - Roseville, CA

We ate at AJ's Casual Eatery in Roseville, CA for the first time last week and it won't be our last! If you go there for lunch, it's cafeteria style...but for dinner, they offer full table service and our server was excellent.

AJ's Casual Eatery opens at 11:30am every day, Sunday-Tuesday they close at 7:00pm, Wednesday they close at 8:00pm (karaoke bar stays open 'til midnight) and Friday-Saturday they close at 10:00pm.

They have a Turkey Goes Clubbin' sandwich that we made a Chicken Goes Clubbin' and it was a delicious combination of chicken breast, bacon, swiss cheese, avocado, red onions (I asked them to grill mine), lettuce and tomato on parmesan crusted sourdough bread...mmm! Oh, and I can't forget to mention their delightfully yummy Parmesan Garlic Fries!

Suede Blue - 16 oz. Ribeye Steak topped with Melted Blue Cheese (Roseville, CA)

I've eaten at Suede Blue in Roseville, CA twice so far...and for some reason, I can't seem to want to order anything else besides their 16 oz. Ribeye Steak topped with Blue Cheese! Sure, it's an extra $2.95 for that marvelous melted blue cheese topping, but if you're already paying $26.95 for a steak then it's worth the extra money to order it the way you like.

Bob ordered a chopped salad to start and quite honestly, I really was not that impressed. The Cheesecake Factory's chopped salad is much better...sorry, Suede Blue! However, if you're into medium rare ribeye steak topped with melted blue cheese, Suede Blue does it right in my book.

Too bad I'm doing low carb right now...I sure missed out on their chocolate lava cake and their heavenly chocolate martinis! Hmmm...I'll have to come back for a chocolate martini soon. :)

We had an opening in our schedule this morning, since the property we were going to bid on at a trustee's sale auction got postponed, so Bob and I stopped at the Mels Diner on Douglas Boulevard in Roseville. We decided to try their steak and eggs breakfast...and we're glad we did because it was so delicious, we're looking forward to having that same breakfast again soon! :)

Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar (Roseville, CA)

As major sushi aficionados, Bob and I have been to many different Japanese restaurants and sushi bars throughout California...and Mikuni Japanese Restaurant is our favorite place to have sushi in the Sacramento area! Mikuni has locations in Roseville, Fair Oaks, Midtown Sacramento, Arden Fair Mall in Sacramento, Elk Grove, Davis, Northstar at Lake Tahoe and Park Meadows in Lone Tree, Colorado (just south of Denver).

Bob and I decided to try something new the other night and order from their Seafood Plates menu, since we've always ordered sushi and sashimi in the past. We'd definitely order both of these plates again, but my favorite between the two was the Pepperfin...it was like having sashimi with a sauce!

Besides having one of the most extensive sushi roll menus around, Mikuni has a secret dish that does not appear on their menu...the 12 o'clock (my very FAVORITE treat!) which is featured in the first photo below. Bob and I decided to try something new the other night and order from their Seafood Plates menu, the Pepperfin and Sauteed White Tuna. We'd definitely order both of these dishes again, but my preference was the Pepperfin...it was like having sashimi in a sauce!

If you're having a birthday celebration, Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar in Roseville, CA is a fun place to come! I celebrated a couple of birthdays here and I got to spin the Mikuni Wheel of Fortune - one year I won a bag of rice and another year I won a marble soda. :)

Mimi's Cafe at Creekside Town Center (Roseville, CA)

Breakfast, anyone? Mimi's Cafe is THE place to go for breakfast, especially if you like eggs benedict or corned beef hash and eggs. I've been to quite a few different restaurants for breakfast, but Mimi's Cafe has the best eggs benedict and corned beef hash and eggs, bar none!

If you join the Mimi's Cafe eClub, they'll send you coupons from time to time for "Buy One Breakfast & Two Beverages and Get the 2nd Breakfast Free" which I think is a great deal...and so does everyone else because the restaurant always seems to be packed on coupon days! :)

Mimi's Cafe's Famous Corned Beef Hash and Eggs Breakfast

Chevys Fresh Mex at Blue Oaks Town Center (Rocklin, CA)

Bob and I have been enjoying "El Happy Hour" at Chevys Fresh Mex (in the SF Bay Area) for the past 5 years or so. Chevys used to offer $3 drinks AND $3 appetizers from 4-7pm on weekdays, but a couple years ago they changed it to 50% off appetizers and made Happy Hour from 3-7pm.

We've tried all the items in Chevys appetizer menu and our favorite ones are their fajita nachos (chicken, steak or combination) and their chicken flautas. I think the dipping sauce for the chicken flautas is SO delicious and addicting. I always ask for a little extra! :)

The bartenders at the Rocklin Chevys really deserve a huge thumbs up because every single time we go there, we get served the BEST blended margaritas we've had in Placer county!

It's an extra quarter for their blended margaritas and they come in many different flavors: Original, Strawberry (my favorite), Peach (Bob's favorite), Midori, Mango...plus they offer a seasonal flavor as well. A couple of weeks ago, I tried their Blood Orange margaritas and they were spectacular! I'm hoping they offer Raspberry-Strawberry margaritas again this summer...my favorite flavor!

The Cheesecake Factory at Galleria Mall (Roseville, CA)

The Cheesecake Factory has been at the Galleria Mall in Roseville, California since 2008 and this was my first visit, even though I've been to several other Cheesecake Factory locations like San Francisco, Pleasanton and San Jose.

Strangely enough for a sweet-tooth like me, it's not all about the cheesecake because I don't really care for their cheesecake and my favorite menu item is actually their roasted veggie pizza with kalamata olives, roasted bell peppers, tomatoes and eggplant, topped with feta cheese and drizzled with pesto! Yummylicious!!! :D

BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad - Bob and I shared this "mega" salad the other night...and it was absolutely delicious as well as filling for the both of us! We started out eating the onion ring strings as an "appetizer", then sliced the avocado into bite-size pieces before tossing the salad, mixing together all the ingredients. This is a salad we will definitely be enjoying again soon! :)
