This post (and the whole Facebook thing!) was inspired by Steve Chain of Chain Real Estate Investments, when he asked (in a comment on my blog entitled "Silent Saturday - Cyrano the Cane Corso and his Pink Bunny") if Cyrano had a Facebook account like his friend's dog. Apparently, his friend's dog "maxed out" on the number of friends he could have...so I decided to create a Page instead of a Profile, especially since Cyrano is only 5 years old and I don't know even know if he'd be allowed to have his own profile!

Cane Corso Rescue - A Dog Rescue Organization Goes Web 2.0!

CaneCorsoRescue.org was created in 2002 as a website dedicated to rescue efforts for the Cane Corso dog breed. After 8 years of being a static website...it has now been transformed into a Web 2.0 Blogger site, complete with a Twitter feed, Facebook widget and Picasa photo albums!

Best of all, every Cane Corso Rescue Committee Member is set up as a blog contributor and can add rescue dogs as they become available...which is much more efficient than having to rely on one volunteer to input every single rescue dog.

Thanks to the new features now offered by Blogger, CaneCorsoRescue.org can also have up to 10 additional static web pages, perfect for our About Us, FAQs and Success Stories pages, plus our online forms for Adoption/Foster and Surrender.

CaneCorsoRescue.org currently has 246 "likes" on Facebook and 10 followers on Twitter. Not bad for our first 3 weeks, huh? :)

Note: Although this is not a real estate related blog post, I am posting about CaneCorsoRescue.org because I not only want to give them extra "Google Juice" but I'm proud to use the social media knowledge I've gained here to make CaneCorsoRescue.org a more effective site.

Nature's Domain Holistic Dog Food Now Available At Costco

What a nice surprise to find holistic dog food at my local Costco in Livermore, California...and a deal at $0.80 per pound (or $27.99 for a 35-lb. bag)! It is made by Nature's Domain Pet Foods and the flavor offered at Costco is Salmon Meal and Sweet Potato. It is a grain-free food for all life stages...similar to the Canidae dog food we have fed our dogs in the past.

We bought a bag to give it a try and will be mixing it gradually into our dogs' current food. It's always a good idea to mix foods when switching, so as to not upset their system by a sudden change in food. The first three ingredients are excellent (btw, any dog food that has by-products listed in the first three should be AVOIDED): salmon meal, sweet potatoes and peas. Yummy! :)

Nausika - Working Dog From Italy - Cane Corso Italiano

Nausika is a female Cane Corso doing true work (and earning her keep!) on a commercial pig farm in Northern Italy. The video clip shows Nausika moving several pigs towards the truck, destined for the slaughterhouse! Nausika is a "Traditional Cane Corso" (owned & trained by Dr. Domenico Carratù, DVM) denoting functional morphology and working ancestry/bloodlines.

Bloodline: From Puglia and Campania regions
Age: almost 3 yrs. old
Height: 65 cm (25½")
Weight: approx. 53 kg (117 lbs.)
Bite: Tenaglia (Level)

Wordless Wednesday - Persistence Pays Off

Happy 8th Birthday, Romeo! (Cane Corso Italiano)

I know this has been said many times before, but my baby boy will always be my baby boy no matter how old he is in calendar years. Today is Romeo's 8th birthday and I am so thankful to have what I consider to be the perfect dog! He is a Cane Corso that we imported from Genoa, Italy at 2 months of age and he is without a doubt the most intelligent and well-rounded dog we know.

Here are some photos of Romeo from birth to age 7:

Romeo is extremely sweet-tempered and affectionate. He loves to lean on you, lay on your feet, or sit on your lap...and he'll do just about anything for a dog biscuit or a full-body massage! He is an avid kisser and has mastered the art of making people fall in love with him (especially women!)

He is a superb show dog with a proven track record, demonstrating not only powerful fluid movement and outstanding ring presence, but his head turns many heads...especially judges! He's also a natural problem solver and a very clever, quick thinker with an impressive memory and a keen sense of smell. He loves to cuddle, loves to play, loves to have his head and chest rubbed and his tail never stops wagging!

Although Romeo is now retired from the show ring, here is a list of his credentials and accomplishments:
